Aloha Disconnection

Filled in today on KBUT for Auntie KK's Aloha Connection show. She normally plays Hawaiian and World music, so I started my set off with some Brazilian and Latin tracks then transitioned over to my normal style of tunage. Here's the playlist:

Artist/Song/Album

Tribalistas / Ja Sei Namorar / Tribalistas
Seu Jorge / Mania de Peitao (Jamais plus Jamais mix) / Cru
Seu Jorge / Tive Razao (Voltair mix) / Cru
Rodrigo y Gabriela / Tamacun
Bebel Gilberto / Bring Back the Love (Brazilian Girls Extended version)
Ojos de Brujo / Color / Techari
Ozomatli / La Temperatura / Don't Mess with The Dragon
Rodrigo y Gabriela / Diablo Rojo
Los Juanes / A Dios Le Pido
Cansei de Ser Sexy / Music is my Hot Hot Sex / CSS
Malajube / Montreal -40C / Trompe L'oeil
Menomena / Wet & Rusting / Friend and Foe
Sean Hayes / Calling all Cars
Modest Mouse / Missed the Boat / We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

*At this point I locked myself out of the studio when I went to my car to get my Man Man cds. There was probably 2 minutes of dead air (so professional).

Andrew Bird / Imitosis / Armchair Apocrypha
Modest Mouse / Dashboard / We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
Man Man / Black Mission Goggles / 6 Demon Bag
Arcade Fire / Keep the Car Running / Neon Bible
LCD Soundsystem / Time to Get Away / Sound of SIlver
!!! / Heart of Hearts / Myth Takes
Muscles / Ice Cream (*request by Kellan & Kristen)
Klaxons / Gravity's Rainbow / Myths of the Near Future
SIlver Jews / Honk if You're Lonely / American Water (*request by Peter @ Teo)
Patrick Wolf / Magic Position / Magic Position
Ted Leo & the Pharmacists / Sons of Cain / Living with the Living
Man Man / Van Helsing Boombox / 6 Demon Bag
Rodrigo & Gabriela / Ixtapa (as a transition into Prairie Home Companion)

Save for the dead air debacle, things went swimmingly.

uber-plussed

So it is. As of last night I got word that I will be hosting my own show on KBUT 90.3 here in Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley. I'll be taking over the Monday night 10:30pm-12:30am timeslot. I'm uber-plussed.

Ideally I'll be using this blog to upload playlists from my shows and eventually linking to or hosting mp3s of my shows (so those East Coast pals can listen without staying up late). In the meantime, KBUT has a live stream of their broadcast, so tune in on Monday nights to hear some new and not-so-new (but always great) tunes.
