With a short prep week (due to my Thursday show), I decided to emplore an idea that had been developing for some time: two hours of songs from Wes Anderson films. Besides loving his films in their own rights, each film is blessed with an exceptional soundtrack and wonderful original compositions. The wealth of choices made it easy to have a a good and fun show. (You may notice a lack of songs from both Bottle Rocket and The Darjeeling Limited. Neither KBUT nor I have the soundtrack to these films, so I only had 3 songs from each film to work with). It ended up being probably my longest playlist due to the shortness of the songs and the wealth of instrumental tracks which I used as background music during my promos and other talking bits.
I tried to record this show, but unfortunately the CD burner malfunctioned and all was lost. It was a really fun and put-together show, so I'm rather bummed about that.

The Dog Ate It
Due to my sickness earlier in the week, I had to negotiate a radio show switch with my buddy Josh this week. Thus, my show fell on a Thursday this week. Having almost recovered from my coughing and mucus-filling ailment, I was excited to get back on the airwaves with a truckload of new music to share. It was a nice night with several calls from friends and random listeners to keep me motivated.
Despite to smoothness of the show, my night at KBUT had a rather bizarre beginning. The host of the show prior to mine had his rambuctious dog in the studio with him. As I took of my gloves, the pup promptly snatched one out of my hands and ran off. I gave mild chase, trying to have fun with the dog, but had no luck retrieving it. Just then the dog decided to swallow my glove. Not sure why. He did drink a good deal of water afterwards to wash it down. The owner said he would buy me a new pair, but I was more worried about him cleaning up dog puke at 3am that night.
Below is an mp3 link of this week's show. It runs from just before my show starts until the middle of Phosphorescent's "Worried Blues"{.

Sickbird
I am quite sick, and have been since Sunday. I'm gradually getting better, but if you noticed I wasn't on air Monday night, that is why. Check me out on Thursday night at the usual time (10:30pm MT). Thanks to Josh for switching with me.

Welcome, 2008 (belated)
Twas nice to be back in the studio last night after a longer than usual break from my Music is My Girlfriend duties. I had plenty of time to prepare and had a number of new songs to play as well as some favorite older tracks. No calls and no drop-ins equalled a quiet and peaceful radio show.
The Edgar Winter Group was the first selection of 2008 into the Bad Albums Covers collection. Their cover for 1972's "They Only Come Out At Night" is somewhat similar in repulsiveness to Herbie Mann's "Push Push," but Edgar decided to add a strange vampiric theme to the mix. His muttonchops are not to be missed either.

Justice / Phantom Pt 1
Atlas Sound / River Card
Apples in Stereo / Energy
Shaky Hands / Show Me Your Life (live)

Maybe Next Week
A best friend in town, a winter storm, and a dinner party. These things are not conducive to having a radio show. Because of all 3, there was no Music is My Girlfriend last night. Thanks to Arvin for extending his show on my behalf. Tune in next week!
