9/22 Fill-In Show
What? Another show today? Indeed. The venerable King of Soul himself (aka Arvin) had a concert to attend in Denver, so I filled in for him tonight from 8:30-10:30. Having already played my weekly load of new music and whatnot a mere 4 hours prior, I went with an old standard: the A-Z show.
No links, 'cause its all old (or I've linked to it many times prior).

Monolith Preview
From 9/8 Show
With Colorado's best music festival looming on my weekend calendar, I did my best to get listeners just as excited about the Monolith Festival. My summer thus far has been relatively void of good concerts, so I figure a weekend of about 60 bands ought to make up for it all. I'll see what I can do about posting some post-Monolith thoughts (hopefully more detailed than last year's reports: Day One, Day Two). Anyhow, all of the bands below are playing at the Monolith Festival (although a couple are only appearing at special VIP events).
Mp3 links are up and awesome.

Labor Day
From 9/1 Show
As you may notice, many of the songs below have a "labor" theme (or at least song title) in honor of today's holiday. You may also notice a completely unrelated stretch of "on fire" songs. iTunes is really great for these things. (I think a long weekend of working has taken its toll on my writing ability).
Mp3s links are up. Check out the new track from Of Montreal's forthcoming release Skeletal Lamping.

Devo / Working in a Coal Mine
Maureen Tucker / Work
Ezra Furman & the Harpoons / I Wanna be Ignored

Bruce Springsteen / I'm on Fire
Spiritualized / Soul on Fire
Kings of Leon / Sex on Fire

Ezra Furman & the Harpoons / We Should Fight
Prince / Let's Work
Of Montreal / Nonpareil of Favor

Esau Mwamwaya, Santogold, MIA, etc / Get it Up
Passion Pit / Sleepy Head
